Hey everyone, it's been a while. Would be surprised if people still recognize me on here :hehe
Wanted to share this concept I made for a game I'm working on. It's painted in Krita, but I used a 3D model made in Maya as a base for the tavern. I also mixed a few photos in there.

Definitely cool to see you post again BaukjeSpirit; it's been way too long. I like the dark themed woodland hut too. :)

Bauuuuuuuukjeeeeeeeeee! :D :D :D

This looks really good! The only thing that looks off to me is the blurry figure, it seems like an unnatural blur, like more of the foreground should be involved in the blur too. Other than that it seems good to me!

Nice to see you, you're missed around here! :hi5

Way too long indeed, it's good to post here again

Mokonafan:
Thank you for the feedback! I should've probably blurred the tree on the foreground too to make it look a little more realistic
And I missed this great community, I should visit more often :)

baukjespirit: welcome back - you and your work have been missed on here for sure! i like this tavern a lot, very atmospheric and confidently made. i wondered about the blurry figure in the foreground too - my interpretation was that the figure might be moving into the picture at a high speed. what i like best is the trees, they are very well made and natural looking, you did a great job on that!

just wondering about something quite apart from the actual picture: is it a mystical sort of ghost tavern that just appears out of nowhere, or why is it hidden among the trees?

Thank you merrak and sallyanne!

AnMal:
Thank you! Wasn't too sure about the figure myself. Redrew it a few times, but until now still not that satisfied with it. Blurred it out because it was supposed to stand really close to the 'camera', and probably a bit out of lazyness :hehe
And about the tavern- you should see it as a rest stop for travelers, so that's why it's in the middle of nowhere :P

Very impressive painting.

Many people use 3D models as references in their painting, it's a technique that works great, i remember someone made some truly amazing work of painted art using this method :

And you can see his setup in Blender :

Thanks molly!

Brogun:
He makes some amazing work, thanks for sharing! I've seen more people using this technique and I wanted to try it out myself. It works really well

merrak:
Cool :) I'm still playing it sometimes, I used to play it a lot when I was younger.

@Brogun

I use 3D references frequently. However, as Griatch once pointed out to me in one of my paintings, they don't always capture facial expressions correctly.

I'm waiting for MakeHuman to add posing capability. I tried using the export to Blender, but Blender is pretty heavy.

@BaukjeSpirit: Now that smartwatches are a thing, someone should make that wrist paddle game!
