I yesterday installed version 1.8.9 which I run in "wine".
I just played around and got something I would try and save as .png.
This was the result.

I then made a screenshot with ksnapshot and this is what it actually looked like.

Needless to say I'm not very pleased with the first one.
Anyone know what I did wrong.
Gerard.

yes you saved the z-buffer instead then the image you were working
The z-buffer may be quite useful (as example is a perfect layer mask to remove the bg) but obviously is not what you wish

Anyway , to save ...first click on the SAVE ,NOT "Save Pic" just "save"
Then the 1 button to the RIGHT, it is written "jpeg" but may save also png, and will save with the same name also the parameters

And you may wish also save in the proprietary format , (for similar reason you may wish save in gimp as xcf) for that is , in the same tab the first button to the LEFT.

BTW there is included in the program zip a read me file , alas without illustrations, but anyway very useful

Thanks PhotoComix.
I'll try again.
There's so many controls on this thing it gets confusing.
Gerard.

Yes and the tab "save pic" could be misleading,
you may save the png also from there (not the button you used , one at left )
BUT that will only save the png, what i suggested will save in the same folder, with same name the PNG and the parameters , parameters are few kb files but very useful, so save both is usually the best

And remember to save the M3i first (as i said "Save" tab, the last on left) because if you want reopen a image to modify , then you may do on the flight (using the parameters you will have to render again, and on same images that may take long

Remember : M3i images are loaded very quickly in M3D, the parameters need to be rendered again

PS
Luckily even if you don't save the parameters they are automatically saved in the "history " folder when you send the image from the 3D navigator to the main program
Better save parameter and png toghete , but may be useful to recover

I know this thread is 5 years old but I'm reviving it. I have a question and my question is, do these formulas work: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... 0NmaHEtOEE

and if they do, how are they installed and how do they work?

Best guess, yes they work.
Two parameter files cephelapods.m3p & menger snake.m3p go in the Mandelbulb3D\M3Parameter\ folder
Twenty formula files 'something'.m3f go in the Mandelbulb3D\M3Formulas\ folder

Choose the parameter (.m3p file), this the menger snake.

edit: Better put in the obvious for completeness
Click on the Calculate3D button

I must say, that Windows version is more up-to-date and far better than the ancient linux versions around. You should get some interesting graphics out of that. Read photocomix comments about Save (not save-pic). I had to run in linux using wine, so too slow rendering for me. Your new Win10 should be ok.

Has anyone downloaded the new version of MandelBulb 3D which is 1.9.9? If so, have you tried the other program that comes with it called MB3D MeshMerge?

Sorry, I was thinking of BTracer. MeshMerge is a total mystery to me too.
