Hello fellow GIMPers,

I've converted "Micky" the tiger cub mascot of GMIC to a scalable vector for the process of making vinyl transfers for t-shirts, which will include some sublimation style printing as well. I had a short discussion with David about reaching out to GIMP and GMIC users to help me come up with how "GMIC" should be displayed on the t-shirt. What font looks best, the style, spacing, and design, overall. GMIC will be at the top of the screen, below will be the GMIC URL and PayPal Donate icon. All ideas will be considered, so don't be shy.

Here's a screenshot of Micky:

GIMP was used to create vector paths exported as SVGs to BOX SVG in creating the vector image. Once the design is finalized, I will submit it to the vendor to have some t-shirts made up.

P.S. Yes, I'm even considering doing some Wilber GIMP shirts, too.

Mahvin, if you do a wilbur drawing using the same SVG to BOX SVG method, could you do a tutorial? I'm trying to understand vectors for a project.

Has anyone ever seen Wallace and Mahvin in the same room at the same time?

Hi Lenny:

It depends on how many layers I need to create the vector image. The Micky image took 45 layers. I could work on creating a smaller scale tutorial that focuses on how to get started. The rest is just duplication.

Wallace occupies the throne room where all the buttons and levers are, whereas I occupy the bunker with the small cot and weak WIFI signal. :rofl

I know there are outstanding artists here at GIMP Chat. Keep in mind that any idea that gets implemented will be visible to everyone who gazes upon people wearing these t-shirts. It's just 4 letters: G'MIC

Do you love using G'MIC like I do? Share your ideas Let's make this a community effort.

Mahvin, I looked at the GMIC logo font and found it to be very beautiful. I alerted a couple of folks over at GIMP Learn who do custom fonts. Perhaps they can use their superior imagination and creativity to solve your problem.

For others, this is what Mahvin wants to update:

Just keep in mind this is for the t-shirt design and not the website.

I like the smaller font version. Looks great, by the way.

Mahvin, I've put together some examples with custom fonts, but am waiting on permissions from the artists/creators to use them here with attribution, links, and with my color changes.

For me, the blank space to the left of Gmicky screams for a magazine cover layout. I know this is not what you asked, but the custom title font is what I wanted to present. Assuming you will have to trace any font you use into a vector, I chose several with simple traceable curves from the 254 pages of custom fonts thread over at GIMP Learn here:

https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=301

From that selection, I was able to obtain an OK from one creator to use her font here. With generous permission from @Issabella, I have used her custom font for the title of the magazine cover. It is found here: https://gimplearn.net/viewtopic.php?p=26586#p26586

I forgot to mention, I love the t-shirts Wallace, especially the Wilbur version. Where did you find the t-shirt template?
