I was asking David about how hard it would be to add voronoi to GMIC and he said it was simple, and it's now available in GMIC.

Have fun, Lyle and GIMPeroos!

With gmic 2.9.0, I updated the filters and I did not find the "voronoi". If it is with gmic 2.9.1prerelease I did not find it for download for Windows here:

Yes, it's under patterns in 2.9.1_pre#200425, you will have to wait a minute.

Irony is, I don't have the GMIC 2.9.0 and until I learn to package GMIC for Macs, I'll be without on this machine. It's just nice to know that the filter was so simple, that Dave implemented it into GMIC. So, I'll be grabbing the laptops and upgrading Linux, instead!

Was using Polygonize>Delauny before, Mahvin. Will check out the Voronoi preset soon.

minutes later.....

OK; definitely much cleaner results than with Polygonize>Delauny. Thanks for the heads-up, Mahvin. :)

I compiled the Voronoi Path plugin for Mac and it's working well, as well. Now back to the laptop and compiling GMIC for Linux

I don't compile G'mic for lynux, I just use one from here: https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-pl ... continuous

It works great and is always updated. Run the GMIC appimage then locate the created gmic_gimp_qt file and copy it to your appropriate Plugins folder. It works with Gimp appimages and otto's PPA.

What release do you have of GMIC? I'm only getting release 2.7.5 and 2.9.0+ is required to use Voronoi in Patterns.

Definitely makes a more stained glass like pattern now. Have some ideas for future stain glass renders, but they will require more work then just running the preset on a complete image. Again, thanks for the head's up, Mahvin. :)

I have G'mic v2.9.0 and it has Voronoi after a filter update.

Ever the Irishman, simple never works for me. Just my luck. AppImage just didn't work. I even globally added exec's along with libraries, and nada. I prayed to Odin, no response. You see, compiling always works for me, even if the distro says "We can't update this dependency just because...(irrelevant reason)" I simply refuse to accept that as an answer, and press on. Anyway, GDebi did the job and my Linux world is righted. This went so far that 4 developers got into a verbal spat over "forcing" dependencies. Now Otto's PPA, there is a good man, who does what I like doing: helping make others' world go round.

What type of gimp install do you have? Is it Otto's PPA, Flatpak, Snap, appImage or straight compile? Also, what Linux distro are you using?

I had Snap but removed it because it wouldn't allow access to plugins folder. I used Otto's PPA for GMIC, finished with GDebi. On this cheap Dell laptop, I'm running recently upgraded Ubuntu 20.04. I tried using his PPA for GIMP and ran into errors with libgegl and libgimp, so went looking for answers on irc and given a new PPA and instructions on how to force failed dependencies to install anyway. 20.04 isn't flexible at the moment, I should have waited. I actually don't compile, the computer does. I guess you could say that doing things the hard way keeps me aware of troubleshooting and resolutions.

This one doesn't work for you? It comes with G'mic already installed. Be sure to make it executable before you run it. Direct Link to Gimp 2.10.19 with plugins AppImage: https://github.com/aferrero2707/gimp-ap ... 4.AppImage

I did that. No cigar. Made it executable, ran it, then blank. Everything is working now, so I bookmarked the link you provided to the dual program for later attempts.

The AppImage file finally worked. I'm starting to think that the delay with internet speed and this laptop being 7 years old, its probably due to my impatience that it seemed it wasn't working. I walked away this time, and when I returned the AppImage file was there for me to click on it. THANK YOU, racer-x! :bigthup
