I thought I had already started a topic about Dynamic Auto Painter but I guess I've not. Created a new thread recently at the DAP forum with a lot of GIMP related tips too. Below's something that I recently concocted. I definitely got to stop binging. lol

At least you had fun making it..... that's a lot of beer to get that many bottle caps! LOL. How long did did it take you to drink it all?

Can't really tell what the other one is, looks like "Duff" or something.

Very nice Lyle. My daughter used to collect beer caps and make table tops with them. She still has one.
I will have to take a picture of it sometime and show you guys.

That reminds me that i should update my auto painter soon. :)

Definitely a cool program no doubt Rod, but, by it self, it's just not quite there w.r.t. object oriented renders. That's where GIMP comes in. I use all kind of tricks (mainly G'MIC tricks) to add some dimensionality to the objects. I also use dark canvas extraction technique per how I outlined it at the DAP forum which depends on Color to Alpha.

To answer Drac's question, I'm still virtually inhibriated. ;)

Also, look forward to seeing your daughter's table soon too Rod. :)

I did Rod; stol...uh,er, borrowed the caps from an internet site in which I got the link from Mazaika's site (looks like they borrowed the same caps; lol). Creating object AOPs are not difficult. Extraction is the challenge though; time consuming. Again, I created outlines on how to isolate DAP's result so you can choose your own canvas (wish Oscar would allow for transparent canvas; direction drop shadow too, but alas, no can do). It was challenging before I discovered dark canvas extraction technique. Because of that, the darkest color of your oject can not be 0 (solid black). That's the trick. You can always auto-level later once the canvas is made transparent. :)

edit:
Found the Photojumble site where I got the samples from: http://photojumble.com/download.html

soooo, you can have DAP repaint any picture with the brush of your choice, ie something in the clipboard???? If I put a pic of a person (rendered with no background) in my clipboard and then run DAP on the same photo with a background, will it paint the portrait with a bunch of "mini-me's"??????

I though Muslims didn't drink PC. lol

Don't believe you can copy paste into DAP 2-Ton. Also, DAP doesn't support transparent canvas (hence my black canvas extraction technique). Yes, you can paint with any object but you have to have already created an AOP with that object(s) in it. Hope that answeres your questions. :)

ok, so you have to make a brush out of a pic first, as in actually have it in your brush file as a real brush, then DAP will paint the pic with that brush? haha, I don't even have DAP yet, just trying to decide it I want it!

Still requires a lot of additional GIMP work, but maybe this may (or may not) help you decide. lol

Recently realized that I lost my marbles (DAP Marble preset; lost them when my PC crashed a few years ago; haven't played with my marbles since then.) lol, so I re-created the preset (now, I'll admit much better than they use to be). Anyway, used the preset along with my own homebrew method for creating caustics/reflections and voila. :)

Easter Eggs

Don't play with DAP as often as I like. Had to do a lot of things to enhance the shadows to give depth to the eggs, but just way too convoluted to even explain. lol

Happy Easter for those that celebrate it. Work for me, though. :(

lol

DAP7 now does mosaics. I've been wanting this for well over a decade and Oscar finally delivers. Yes; splurged, but grateful I have 2 jobs that allows me to pay for the $72 upgrade. lol

I did add the drop shadow effects post processing (GIMP of course).

Now I really need to hit the hay for my Friday. lol :)
