Does anybody know of a free painting app that allows realistic bleeding when using watercolour tools? I think Artrage does but you can't save with the free versions.

Thank you Krol but neither Gimp brushes nor Krita brushes bleed like water colours - you have to work with them just to approximate the effect. Also, it seems that nowadays you have to be a member of DA in order to download stuff and I will not support such pompous elitism!

True of mypaint V2, still a beta I think but maybe not as much work.

Example of desired ArtRage watercolour brush inset. Anyone know a free application match?

Has this one an acceptable watercolour look for you, Erisian?

I'm no painter but am a fan of Flame Painter. Escapemotions makes a cool looking program called Rebelle and what this program can do in the right hands is nothing short of awesome. :)

Thanks rich - I'm looking into Mypaint - it looks like it might be the business.

dinasset - thank you but I'm not just after the effect, I'm after the whole therapeutic randomness of watercolour bleeding. If you have ever painted wet in wet for real, you'll know what I mean.

lyle - thanks but it costs. I really don't have money to splash out.

Yes; it does, Erisian. I don't paint myself so have not pursued this one. I still have version 3 of Flame Painter (version 4's not out) but haven't justified paying for the upgrade. lol

:)

Let me ask: is everybody interested only in the technique requested by Erisian? or general watercolor effects?
In the second case you may also have a browse here
