OK Rod; if you install via the MSI installer, then copy all of these dlls where knot.exe is stored (program files (x86)/Knot in my case) and it will work. :)

http://ubuntuone.com/2E3aEubNUeiaxIZLkZDuVv

edit; I just realized I had a nested directory in my zip; don't copy the directory; just the files (all dlls) where knot.exe is located at. :)

Thank you Sir! :)
I thought perhaps because i had GTK installed in my Msys directory it would work there but it didn't. :)
I also tried the exe setup and it failed.
I tried your dlls and i got this error. (same one i've been getting)

Here is the data.

AppName: knot.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: knot.exe
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000117f1

Strange Rod; do you have knot installed in Program files (assuming you have XP)? Anyway, you can also try to install the exe installer file; I tested it in my XP VM and it worked fine. :)

That is weird.
I do have XP.

This same thing happened to me with AVI to GIF convertor that i purchased.
It worked fine for a few weeks then just started getting this same type of error.
I actually had to ask for a refund and they obliged but i really liked that software. :)

I think it has to do with nt.dll and kernal32.dll
Those are the libraries throwing the errors.
I run all my updates for XP so i am not sure what's up with this error.

a bit OT with knots but if you like 3D you should give a look to Topmod
better if you first look it in action on some youtube video, that explain better than words why i suggest...fun and intuitive.
well intuitive only after you see it in action in a video , but that took few minutes, without looking in action in a good video doesn't look much intuitive and so become much less fun to use

I have PyTopMod but I've never used it. I'll take a look at some videos and see if I can get working with it. I'm slowly learning the ins and outs of Blender and though it's difficult, I'm finally starting to enjoy it.

By far i believe the best 3-D software is Hexagon.
Mainly because the interface is so easy to navigate. :)

I've got Hexagon but I have experienced crashes with it. It's more user-friendly than Blender (but then what isn't! :hehe ) I want to get to grips with Blender though because it's got everything from basic modelling through texturing to animation and a game engine.

Knot's (program I shared a few days ago) been updated to allow PNG export (transparent by default). You can also export to whatever size you want. Still need some anti-aliasing work, but I'm just sharing what the export is raw. :)

Because of malware being found in SourceForge downloads, this link has been removed.

I never get bored or tired of your orb wraps Lyle. ;)
And thanks for the download link, and i think i found the setup problem.

[0BEC:01B0][2012-05-12T22:18:35]: Error 0x80070643: Failed to perform minor upgrade of MSI package.
[0BEC:01B0][2012-05-12T22:18:35]: Error 0x80070643: Failed to execute MSI package.
[0A54:00D0][2012-05-12T22:18:35]: Error 0x80070643: Failed to configure per-machine MSI package.
So i figured that the installer package needed to be updated. :)
So i downloaded the MSI file from thiis mirror locataion - Because of malware being found in SourceForge downloads, this link has been removed.

Installed it and i get the same error.

Weird.

Hey Rod; deleted my last dll zipped file since I went ahead and zipped the complete shebang directory. If you install the msi executable then copy everything over with this directory, maybe that will work (assuming installer registers the program and such so still have to install it). :)

http://ubuntuone.com/43TdrH2cELw4FuN0zi7lHP

edit: Weird that I can't open the zip file in explorer when I re-downloaded it from Ubuntuone; can open it in 7-zip though. Not sure how Ubuntuone changed the file which messes up the zip file in some sort of way. Strange. Just wanted to give you a heads up Rod. Hope you have 7-zip. :)

Sorry Lyle that didn't work either. I think my machine has decided to block it for some reason. :lol
Thanks for trying though. ;)

It won't install for me for some reason. Shame, I'd love to get using it.

Instead of the msi, I did install the exe file in my XP VM and it did work. Did not include any dlls as I recall so I assumed it must have installed gtk for it to work (I've since deleted the VM since I do that quite often). Might try uninstalling the msi install then download and install the exe installer. :)

Not sure how to answer your questions so passing David's (the creator of this software) email address (it's public record from Sourceforge so don't see an issue) and maybe he can help. :)

edit:

Changed my mind; don't like sharing email addresses at website; below's his Sourceforge profile where you can contact him easily. :)

Because of malware being found in SourceForge downloads, this link has been removed.

Erisian that is the same error i got (with the exe setup) until i tried installing the MSI setup. Then it installed everything but didn't run.
Apparently that MSI needs to be updated on the creators end for it to work with new windows updates we have.
That's my guess anyways.
Also i would like to see the setup auto install into c:\program files\knot
