Still waiting on input from other sites (posted a query there), but this program looks pretty cool; if I get good feedback, I'm planning on getting the Artist version (can't justify Pro) using the discount code. You can use the discount code to get the basic version for free, but it's quite limited (only 800px max; the Artist version gives you 2000px max and the Pro 4000px max). Anyway, someone at DPR posted a cool result, so much that I queried him on it and he pointed this site to me. I figure it wouldn't harm to share here; maybe someone will download the basic version (but again, I really don't want to waste the discount code if I do splurge; for me, it would be; lol). :)

where is the discount code ?
ahh found it !
but i think you may well get 2 discount codes, one for the free basic version
for the first you have then to give your name, that is Joe Smith , adress and telephone (you may found several on a phone book) and a valid mail adress as joesmith@gmail.com...would be no controsl ,controls cost too much for free offers, they would not even require a mail confirm

for the other to get a discount on what you want buy you should use the data connected with your ID and credit card, because that will be checked, since there is a money transfer

I'm not one to game the system. Already someone at RetouchPRO is thinking about getting it. I still have to be very careful since I'm no where near the riches bloke in town and this one, as cool as it is, is a luxury item to me. Like the results that I've seen the samples of including the guy who's using the free version. I did install the Demo and could upgrade to the free, but it only can work on 800px images which is pretty small. We shall see. I'll decide after thinking about it for a few days. Sorry if this one was off topic, but nothing wrong with sharing possible toys when they may have some merit. :)

if i would decide to pay i would only consider the pro version
But the suggested ram (minimum 2GB, suggested 4GB) cost more of the program...after a quick test i should say that even with the size limits of the free basic version my 2GB seems barely sufficent

to process bigger images i think 4GB would be the minumum, and much more would be better

I have the RAM PC; still slow to process (broke down and bought it). I have a lot to learn, but basic stuff is not hard to do. Probably won't share my concoctions here since I want to be as true to GIMP as possible for this forum, but I think I will like it as I experiment more. :)

edit: I know I said I wouldn't share any results, but just have to share this one. Now for somebody to figure out how to do this in GIMP. Not completely guilty though since I used GIMP to blend in some paper texture (could have done so in the program too, but know GIMP a whole lot better). :)
