Just discovered this gem today. It's platform independent via Java, but also has a Windows Installer (which is not necessary; just run the Jar file). Pretty cool presets (only played with a handful of them) and believe it would be a good complement for GIMP for thoses additional presets that is. Just wanted to share; it is Open Source. :)

It is O; just run the JAR file (java). That's what I'm doing anyway. Don't care to install the Windows executable. It's also quite fast for the few things I've used it for so far. Take a look at this render using the Siamese Fight Fish brush. This one's a keeper (pointilism witt Octagon/Square preset). Man I'm happy I found this gem. Pretty powerful I bet, but I still haven't really played enough with it yet. Copy/paste retains transparencies too by the way (going between GIMP and Pixelator and back again). Not sure it's bit capabilities yet (8 verses 16 bit that is), but I'll play more with it and see. :)

It works fine for Linux. Just download the jar file pixelitor_1.1.2.jar), enter a terminal then run "java -jar pixelitor_1.1.2.jar". Works fine under Debian sid here.
Not that I find much use for it personally, but it's always nice with options!

thank Griatch, i confess that i before reading your message i gived up the idea to use that file..
.well even before i double checked to have java installed, then i tried again to left click on the file, to right click , to check file permissions, i give to that file all sort of permissions (if was in the permissions a licence to kill i think i would have given even that, just because i didn't want give up )
basically i tried everything except open a terminal

BTW no need to wrote in the command the path for the file ?
oh well now that you put me on the right track i think i may discover by myself if the path is needed

lol; at least you know that I'm doing it and not someone else since I nearly always use my favorite doll model for test renderings. ;)

Everyone has one for instance i use my wood panels for tests and such. =)
Anyways i heard that Gimp-2.8 may have support for Jar files included.

That would be totally awesome. Then you could just throw a bunch of jar files into your plug-ins folder and click them in a menu.... very nice indeed.
