Made with 3D fractal software called Mandelbulber2. I used Gimp to do some anti-aliasing of the image.
It took 6 hours to render.

Merry Christmas Tas

I love those 3d fractals (which btw is why I chose the name Erisian - after Eris, the Greek goddess of chaos)
This reminds me I ought to get back to my Mandelbulb 3d work one day. Amazing render and a beautiful background.

And happy new year as well.

For me 3D fractals solves the content creation problem very neatly. I made a 'smooth menger' fractal with Mandelbulber (MDBB)
and then Gimp to make the animation.
I'm using Gimp in parallel with MDBB.
Gimp is useful for the 'materials' or textures used by the fractal software. Also the backgrounds, scaling etc.
