It's a vector graphics again. Sorry, but I can't help it.
When it comes to text effects I prefer vector editors over pixel pushing counterparts.

its kind of frustrating seing what advanced stuff you can do with Illustrator, when i only got access to Inkscape...

Thanks for your comment, Esper.
CS2 package is free, and Illustrator CS2 is still very potent vector tool (this tutorial is completely doable with it)
I recommend you try it.
I started with CS2, now I have CS6 and it's worth every penny I paid for it ($300).
