Many months ago I discovered Evelyne Schulz on Twitter due to a GIMP-related post. I immediately loved her artwork and, after some correspondence, she graciously agreed to write a tutorial about how she creates her digital paintings in GIMP. I've also included an interview with her at the end of the tutorial.

A very nice little tutorial, and great artwork too!
Interesting how she even uses custom brushes for the hair-strands. She also uses a ton of layers - which may be one of the reasons as to how "exact" her work looks in the end, it could almost be mistaken for a 3D render from its sharp lines. Worth thinking about - I know I personally generally don't have the patience for layers and as a result my images tend to look less "exact" than this.

I'm glad you all liked the tutorial. I think her work is stunning. She must have the patience of a saint.
