Wow! Yes, Oregon does have its share of lighthouses. :hehe

This lighthouse is about 20 miles from where I live. It's part of the Bullards Beach State Park system now.

I do like the way you arranged your calendar. The year down the side and the enlarged black background are great. Thanks for doing my tutorial. :clap

I made the calendar last year, one month per page, and it turned out great. I will have to try this one so I can print it and put it up on my computer desk for quick reference. I can't wait until I have some time off later this week so I can play again!

Here's an idea for those wanting to not decrease the opacity of a background image: I merged all the individual month layers then applied a drop-shadow with X,Y offsets to 0, blur radius to 15, color to white, and opacity to 100, then duplicated the drop shadow layer to brighten the white a bit. This gave enough lightness behind the text without overly obscuring the background. Probably I could have made the text stand out even more if I had used a very contrast-y color like red for the shadow, or added more duplicates of the shadow.

Background is the molten-gold pattern, colorized to resemble - my favorite - chocolate! Since this was just a test-run for me I didn't get too fancy with fonts. Probably on the next run. Thanks for the tut, O! :tyspin

You all are coming up with great and innovative calendars.

Bob, I wanted to lick my screen and get to that chocolate. Nice coloring job on the molten gold pattern to make it look like molten chocolate.

Molly your calendar is just adorable. Those twins are so cute. Really nice job on it. Having the picture at the top with the calendar below works great!

Good job, Bob!

Molly, I like your version really well. (Picture at the top) Tends to prevent the need for blending, etc.

Has anyone experimented with scaling this up to maybe wallpaper size? (Not room wallpaper, desktop wallpaper. :lol ) That's what I plan on experimenting with today, so if anybody has tried this I'd appreciate so input.

I think it would be pretty cool to make either monthly calendars with pictures to add to my wallpaper rotation, or a year calendar with a picture and add it.

(Edit: Actually, that sounds like a dumb question, but I'll leave it.)

I wasn't sure, as it didn't have the usual image resize frame for a large picture. Anything in particular give you a problem?

No. I made the background with Plasma 2. The regular plasma filter would work fine too.

I made the calendar, added the month then made the background. I used the Cubism filter and blurred the results. Then duplicated the plasma layer, flipped it vertically and used it for the text and border. The other layer I lowered the opacity over a bg of white.
