This is a great tutorial, been thinking of images to try, then I remembered this rubic cube wallpaper I had made.

k1tesseraena:will you write a tutorial to something similar to the candles-in-water picture? i loved that one, though i doubt i could ever learn to make something similar, my attempts at animation have all been very bad.
he4rty: you've really done some great work with these animations! the rubik's cube picture is amazing and i love the one with your daughter on the stilts too - i agree with molly about the perspective, very dramatic - and since my own balance is lousy and i'm a bit scared of heights i'm naturally very impressed by her actually standing on those stilts at all .

That is really impressive! You're getting perfect, I don't think I'd make anything as good your rubic cube. Cube is immaculate. And that reflection on the bottom is perfect! Thanks for making this animation. It deserves a place in Gimp Chat Hall of Fame (we don't have one but it's good idea, I think)

As soon as get a few hours to write a tutorial, I will do so. The screenshots are almost ready, just need to organize everything and write the text, although at first I was thinking of making a video tut. Maybe, will do both.

K1TesseraEna - The rubic cube was not that hard to make to be honest, it was all made using the filter>Map Object>Box

You can try optimize to reduce the gif size (on disk) installing "gifsicle" on GNU/Linux and from the terminal:


Also reducing the number of colors, but in this case there is loss of quality:


N: number of colors. For example 64, 128, etc

Had an idea of making something like it, just could not make/find a proper video for that yet.
