So had a play with my welded image, duplicated the layer and then ran FX Foundry's Amazing Circles twice, started to look magnified so I ran the Iwarp filter to bulge image then added my magnifying glass I'd made a while ago now.

Thank you for trying my tutorial Molly and alc59. Very nice results from both of you.

That's sooooo pretty. Your frame really sets off that fall color.

O: good tutorial and fun and useful effect, thank you!
everyone :) : your results are so much fun to see, you've all done your own thing with it!

i had been thinking of a frame for this picture anyway (it's a photo of a mughal style mosaic wall, run through samj's psychedelic colours filter), so my idea was the same as alc59's. then i couldn't resist giving the frame more of a pattern too, so i rippled the stripes - think i like that one better, but that's probably because i'm such a hopeless pattern junkie.

i found something funny just now: if you run the stripes through samj's metallic colours filter you get a rather credible fabric texture:

The frames set off the image beautifully and I really like your rippled one. Looks good with the subject matter. :hehe

It's really great seeing the different ways you all are using the tutorial. :yes

Great idea AnMal. We can upholster the furniture in the Gimp Chat chat lounge with it.

O: exactly :)! that looks just like a swatch sample from an upholsterer's catalogue.

So had another play, and what with everyone trying out picture frames, thought I'd have ago with an idea.

On the image in the frame I done the pixel stretch, then draw a path from left to right, using this script Sample Gradient along a Path I created a gradient from the pixel stretch image. I then ran this script Moulded Picture Frame using the newly created gradient.
I then inverted the coulors of the frame and added a new inverted layer mode set to overlay just to slightly brighten the whole image.

he4rty, what you did sounds very complicated. I love your outcome though.

Those are very nice Graechan. My frame script doesn't seem to be working anymore, I was trying to do the same thing with mine.
