Graechan, those frames are really cool! Which script do you use for them?

Sorry O, I can't send files in private messages just copy and paste into a text editor then save as Pixel frame.scm and load into your scripts folder script will be found under Script-Fu>Edges. unless there is another way for me to send you this file.

Graechan, I have the script copied and in my scripts folder.

I need for you to tell me how it works or how to use it. Do I make a selection of a picture and somehow use the pixel stretch pattern to make a frame around the picture?

Just open an image and select Pixel frame, no selection needed, click OK when menu opens thats all.

Pixel frame will create its own gradient then delete it after use, no selection is needed as pixel frame will do that for you

@Oregonian, Thank you very much for the tutorial. You can give it infinite uses.
I loved all the work everyone has done in this thread.

@lylejk, @Erisian: I did not know the script "pan to bow":
https://registry.gimp.org/node/20869
Thanks!
I've already found an use for the script and tutorial. Metal discs:

Image

I think Draconian should know this alternative :hehe . I got imperfections in the center of the disc using other methods. With what was explained in this tutorial and the script the center of the disc is better.

Edit:
To make the metal disc I created a new image with gray background (same size in height and width). I have applied noise (no color). Then I did what was explained in the tutorial. Then a bit of Gaussian blur and apply the script "pan to bow". Finally lighting effects and a few tweaks.

Very cool, YAFU. Put a hole in the center and teeth on the outside and you have a saw blade. :hehe
I love the silvery looking stretched pixels you made.

Graechen, have you posted the pixel frame script yet? It would be nice if you posted it in the scripts forum if you haven't with a few words about how to use it.

No I only wrote it to maybe add to another script as a frame option, but I sent to you to demonstrate the use of your tutorial. Maybe I'll enlarge and add later.

Well done, Oregonian. This tutorial is so clever in its simplicity that I couldn't help to experiment with it.

So I created a 240x240 image, to which I applied the "Plasma" filter with "Turbulence" set to 7, then I followed the steps of your tutorial up to get a colorful pixel stretch. Finally, I ran the "Map Object" filter, by selecting the sphere as the shape to map the pattern on.

The result is really fine, where that sphere covered with thin stripes looks like a marble or even a fancy giant planet spinning very fast!

@Esper. That looks like fun. I'm going to have to give that a try.

Excellent Gino! You've experimented and have a beautiful sphere. Thanks for trying my tutorial!
