Yes! :bigthup

I see you've added a bump layer to texture the glass on the previous one, which can also decrease the transparency when combined with the fill layer. It's easy enough to toggle off one or the other. Using both can make for a pretty cool effect, though. :hehe

I don't have the shadow blur radius option or the shadow style option. I am running Windows 7 64 Bit using gimp 2.8.10. Am I missing something? Also, the scroll bar modifier doesn't seem to work properly. The toolbox itself pops out large, then I have to drag the corners to where I can see almost everything. The scroll bar modifier only shows vertical... it's missing the horizontal.

Hi Mackenzieh,

There is a new version 2.3 of this script, which contains those options. You can grab it from GIMP Scripts.

Windows 7 taskbar does hide the OK button but you can manually resize or drag the dialog to access those options.

On the Gimpscript LogoToolbox download page there is an example called Logo that sweeps up from the bottom and curves. Does anyone know how to do this.

@Kimba - there is a directional extrude option in GTs script which will provide something like the example you are querying. However, somewhere in the dark depths of my memory I have a feeling that GT has covered how that effect was produced elsewhere, but I justy cannot think where!

@GnuTux - I was going to provide some examples for Kimba of a maximum size 90 degree extrude ... but the plugin and GIMP kept crashing on me.

Kimba - in the meantime Ofnuts has some great 'paths' tools from which you can build similar images - for example Generate Intermediate Paths, Stroke or Fill Visible Paths ...

Image
... you can add a 3rd path to provide a curved direction

Image
... you can fill the intermediate paths

Image
... or you can stroke individual paths

Hope this is of some help.

Hi Kimba,

In both Logo Toolbox and 3D Extrusion scripts, "Shrink" extrusion will always shrink toward the center of the canvas. To the get the sweeping or flyout effect, just create a large canvas and place your text offset from the center. The further away from the center, the more pronounced the effect will be. Ensure your extrusion depth is high enough to produce a good effect.

You can see several examples in the Logo Toolbox topic, starting here

Not sure what kind of problem you might be having but you could check to see if you're experiencing a problem with a script conflict, as outlined here.

Looks good, Kimba. :bigthup

You can create the effect from any angle too.

@GnuTux - I remember now some of the previous issues logged about 3D extrusion and this script; I even took part in the subsequent testing and had no problems then.

So this morning I ran the 'check for duplicates script' - no duplicates found; I re-downloaded Logo Toolbox and replaced the original script file; reran the script and had only one or two successful created images each time before script/GIMP crashed again and again.

I will see if I can find something else causing this problem.

1) Does this problem only occur when using the 3D extrusion part of Logo Toolbox?
2) Does the same problem occur when using 3D-extrusion instead of Logo-Toolbox?
3) Are there any error messages when the script or GIMP crashes?

Answers to these questions might help me troubleshoot. Thanks, OMG!

GnuTux - further info as requested :

I had also previously reloaded the 3D Extrusion script

1. Yes the problem only occurs when using the 3D extrusion components; I did some progressive tests and 3 images below extrusion depth of 160 went OK; as soon as I tried above 160 depth the script/GIMP crashed. On a second test where I went straight to a depth of 200 the script/GIMP crashed straight away.
2. No the same problem does not occur - i tried several consecutive depths from 16 to 200 maximum
3. No error messages other than that saying GIMP has crashed and will be closed.

Let me know if there is more I can do.

Thanks for the info, OMG.

Lately, I've been tied up with a few other projects, but I have some time to test the Logo Toolbox script. It's almost sounds like a memory issue. There's been some work done on the 3D-Extrusion script since it was partially included in the Logo Toolbox script. I'll compare the two and look for any anomalies. Perhaps there are things I can do to keep the memory footprint as small as possible.

I think it might be a memory issue. My previous desktop used to do the same thing. I've run the script several times now with a new computer without issue.

This is with the extrusion depth set to 200.

For the next time it happens:

The old Gimp scripts site http://gimpscripts.com is gone.
If you come across a link to it try the new site https://www.gimpscripts.net
Then use the search option. Well down the right hand side, under Search This Blog and (hopefully) you get a result.
