So the problem is using those two RAR the png option doesn't show up at all when saving not in that bit where all the other file extensions are... any ideas why?

Slide, It's a little program that comes with windows 7. It is called "Snipping tool." It is so easy and you can hi-lite with it underline, erase and use other colors for hi-lite.

You can also click prtScn on your keyboard then open Paint then ctrl-V to paste.

I knew abot the PrtSc, but forgot all abot the Snipping tool. Has that in Vista.
Thanks again

That is a big mystery with the pesky file. Sometimes when I install it, it is a breeze, then another time something goes wrong. I think it is a real mystery.

Click here for a video. > apng

and here is what it does slowed down. Screencast is a bit big, so you will have to slide up and down.

Can you save as any pic and type .png after the file name? Does it save?

I'd say just reinstall without uninstalling. I know. I've had to do it 20, or 30 times.

Hey! I have the same problem that many of others have had, but I haven't found solution.
Using Windows XP
And I have Gimp 2.8.0
I installed the apng plugin last night and it worked well, but then suddenly it started sending me errors.

I have a feeling this has to do with the old png file.
Did you keep the old "file-png.exe" file from the plug-ins folder?
Mine works in Gimp-2.8, but i kept both png executes in the plug-ins folder.
file-apng.exe and
file-png.exe
That may be your problem.

First I kept it there, the apng didn't save, then I deleted it, but it still doesn't work.
Should I put it back there?

Unzip this package and place the file-apng.exe and the file-apng.ui files in the plugins folder.
Place the intl.dll file in your UserFolder\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins folder.
Try that first.

I did that. I took intl.dll from bin, put it there, but it said that the application had failed to start because intl.dll was not found. And still send me those same errors while saving.
I think I'm just wasting your time. It must be really boring to answer the same questions all the time. :) So big thank you for your help!
Maybe I should remove Gimp, then download it again and start over.

A bit offtopic.
Some time ago I read that there was a format for animations based on jpeg images, but was unsuccessful. Do you know if there is now a new format for animations with lossy compression images?

The only ones I know and use are gif and apng. I don't think there is such an animation in the jpg format.

Dacii the intl.dll i gave you is different. It has to go in the plugins folder in the userfolder directory.Keep the other intl.dll in the bin folder.
Anything in the userfolder directory will load and initialize first.

And i am glad to help. :)

I have not heard of anything other than GIF, and APNG. I have heard there is an javascript that can create jpg animations. I have no idea where to get it though. Here are a couple of java scripting options.

I swear to god, that when I downloaded the zip attachement, there was only two files: file-apng.exe and the file-apng.ui. :D Or, I'm going slightly mad. :D

Is it normal that I don't have anything else on my Userfolder plugins folder?
It didn't help, still the same message.
