Clock instructions

1. Create a new transparent layer 400x400
2. Create another transparent layer named ORIGINAL , with Elliptic tool in position 30,200 made a small circle 30x30 and fill with white color



3. Edit>Multi-Replicate with these settings : copies 12, increm.angle rot. 30 and angle x coord.560



4. Write the clock numbers in each sub-layer ( ex. In Sub-layer#1 write 9 , in #2 write 10 and so on) Follow this method: first make invisible the layer ORIGINAL ; Change the color from white to black in Foreground ; font Arial Bold ( or similar) size 30 ; go to layer menu and click over sub layer ORIGINAL#1 and position the cursor top center for one digit or top left for double digit; make invisible the sub layer with small circle each time ; select>none



5. Go to named ORIGINAL layer and make visible;alpha to selection ; move to the center of the clock ; change the color to black; ; in the menu layer click “layer to image size”; select>none ; with the path tool create the clock hands in this way: make 3 points as you can see in the illustration and after edit>strokepath ;set the line width to 9 and in the line style chose the round cap




6. Go to background and create a new transparent layer name COLOR and with gradient tool shape radial choose GEOCADET9 gradient ( or similar)and make an horizontal line from the center to the far right.)

Beautiful, it looks like glow-in-the-dark.

Actually there are two other ways to mark where the numbers should go, using stock Gimp:

The Gimper way:
1) Making a selection/Circle path for the circle
2) Since the number are at 30° angles, use "constrained angles" to draw lines from the center to the circle, the number being positioned at the end of the line.

The geometrician way:
- Number 4 hours part (for instance 12->4->8) are on an equilateral triangle
- In an equilateral triangle, the center of the circumcircle splits the height 1/3,2/3
- So numbers at intermediate positions (1,2,4,5,7,8,10,11) have one of their coordinates which is halfway from the center
- So with 5 evenly spaced guides vertically and horizontally and one circle you know where to put the numbers:

Thank you so much dinasset, I'm happy you like my nice clock. Our countries have the same timetable in spite of it shouldn't. Now here in Spain is too hot as if it was summer, so no timetables at all.
