I was playing with some gradients and I found some interesting possibilities that I want to show you.
Here are my snippings

Tube Red gradient (radial) was used.

1. gradient REDTUBE
2. click shape linear (default)and choose radial
3. click mouse ( dont release) from center bottom to the center

example

starting from the re-discovered tube gradient (thank Marcello!), creating a new one blue-green-red, playing with the it and a pattern...

Dinasset Thank you;
I think there is an antialiasing problem making the curves with the redtube gradient!

That's cool! :bigthup

I've improved the edges, making them look much smoother. ;)
Of course I had to make one using my favorite hue.

Yes, Marcello, you are right, but imo that's true for any gradient which has a non-smoothed switch from one colour to another one; but this characteristics is on the opposite good for linear uses, so maybe we have to use different versions of this kind of gradients, one smoothed, one not smoothed

Wallace, did you smooth the gradient or the outcome after drawing the gradient?

I did the smoothing after. ;)

I was trying to put it on a path but it didn't work. I made a shape with the pen tool then went to paths and ran the tube gradient. Oh well, it is a nice feature, thanks Marcello.

looks nice Marcello but I thought it would come out like a tube. I will try it again.

did you use Gmic anisotropic?

No, I set cross-hair guides to find the center of my canvas, then made the red tube starting from the center. I used the ellipse selection tool, set to fixed and expand from center. To make a perfect circle and removed some of the outside edge. Duplicated the image and then removed the inner edge from the original.
I Gaussian blurred the duplicate layer and then applied color curves to the alpha channel, to refine the edge more. I then fuzzy selected the outside and feathered the selection, cleared this selection a few time until I liked what I was seeing. I also adjusted the brightness and contrast making it slightly darker.

Did you get all that?
