This is my first tutorial so if I did something wrong then please tell me!
In this post I will learn you how to create a border for your text (Downloads in the spoilers below!).
Method 1 (my version):
Step 1:
Open/create the picture you want the text on.
Step 2:
Create some text by selecting the text tool, clicking somewhere on the background, and then typing something.
Step 3:
Right click the text layer and click "Alpha to Selection"
Step 4:
Create a new layer and make sure it is Transparent and selected, then go to Select » Grow and put in the size of the border in pixels.
Step 5:
Select the bucket tool and select the color and opacity, then click on the text.
Step 6:
Move the text border layer down by one. Now your text should have a border around it.

Method 2 (thank you orfnuts!):

Open/create the picture you want the text on.
Step 2:
Create some text by selecting the text tool, clicking somewhere on the background, and then typing something.
Step 3:
Go to right-click on the text layer and click Text to Path, and add a transparent layer and put it
below the text layer.
Step 4:
Go to Edit » Stroke path and then choose the settings and size of the border. (The size you use should be 2× bigger than the actual size, and the X and Y should match!)
