Remove the olive bg by using color-color to alpha-select the olive color in the preview image and click ok. Duplicate the pen layer to your liking. I also used a blue shadow.

You are using G'MIC 1.6.0.3 with 414 filters, I would consider upgrading to G'MIC 1.6.1.0 with 435 filters.

Perhaps is problem of your g'mic version. Mine is 1.6.2.0, yours is 1.6.0.3 as i can see in your screenshot. I don't remember if this filter was allocated in previus versions.

- abrimos imagen
- la duplicamos y desaturamos (luminosidad)
- duplicamos ésta, invertimos, le aplicamos el desenfoque gaussiano y la ponemos en modo
blanquear
- aplicamos g'mic en modo capa nueva de salida; ponemos esta capa en modo en modo ennegrecer.
- le damos color a esta capa con colores>>> colorizar buscando los tonos azules yjugando con saturación y luminosidad.
- abrimos como capa la textura de papel o creamos una con un patrón. La situamos debajo de la anterior.
- para borrar detalles no deseados añado máscara de capa transparente.

With my G'MIC 1.6.1.0 the following two Samj filters, disappear if I do not refresh filters.

@Molly - no, that is Tolkien's Smeagol/Gollum from The Hobbit; he is not strictly a 'troll' which has its derivation in Norse mythology. Although Smeagol was a Hobbit, more likely in his Gollum form, he is a 'troglodyte'.

Whatever he is, I just love the character.

And just to prove I did the original tut, but also found a very attractive 'samj granular texture' in the tut's target GMIC section .. here she is

for having G'MIC keeping last "refreshes" do the following:
1-install the latest version (1.6.2.0 pre-release)
2-start GIMP
3-refresh GMIC (should show up version 1.6.2.0 pre-release)
4-close GIMP
5-delete file "update1620.gmic" which you find under (user)/AppData/Roaming)
beware: there are two files in that folder:
a)gimp_update1620.gmic WHICH SHOULD STAY THERE
b)update1620.gmic WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED (move it to your desktop, for safety)
6-restart GIMP, G'MIC should be able to keep all "refreshes"
