the tutorial is for the heart with all decorations and text effect, as shown in this thread: http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12867

i'm warning anyone who hasn't yet worked with layermasks: this is probably not for you! i simply love the way layer masks work and play around with them a lot. also, if you're a very impatient sort and if you don't like 2.8, then don't even bother with this.

Anmal - timing was just right - I'm first to download the tut and will now have all day to play with it. Might even see if I can turn it into a paisley of some kind :hehe

Sometimes life gets put in perspetive by an unexpected incident. Yesterday I started the tut, using my 16 month old grand daughters names. I was three quarters thru the tut when my wife phoned from hospital, where she and our daughter were with liitle Isla, who was being tested for nut allergies. It had become a terrifying 'code blue' situation as Isla suddenly reacted to the nuts and was rushed to emergency, where she stayed for the next 8 hours.

It's all OK now, but I have never before had such helpless, lost feelings as I just sat and waited at home for news. Anmal, I did not actually finish the tut but did produce an image, which I printed off for the little dear when she came home last night.

OMG, I'm so happy to learn your little granddaughter is all right finally at home. I can imagine how terrible you felt waiting for news. Life is like that, sometimes is so hard, but others is really fantastic. Great outcome! :coolthup
I go lost yet doing the tut, but I'm trying it. :)

AnMal, I did your tutorial and yes, I took your advice and took a tea cup but not happy with my result. Terrible! I think it's for people with more level than me. :hehe
Thanks for your nice tutorial, it's really great and I've learnt new things. :tyspin

issabella: sorry to hear you've had trouble with the tutorial! don't worry, though, it's probably just me explaining things badly. i'm really bad at writing tutorials - ask anyone. judging from what i've seen you can make you should be very well able to make this effect, so if you want to give it another try just tell me and i'll try to help.

Thank you so much AnMal, you are so kind. It's I didn't get the look you gave it at the end. Also I have some difficulties about English language to get the right interpretation. So, here it's what I got. Sorry
I removed a horrible thing I had done and...
Well, I repeated the tut and it is a bit better in spite of my twisted lettering. :hehe

AnMal, I'm so happy you like my poor outcome. Thanks for your nice words. :tyspin I can say that I've learnt new actions to apply and I've enjoyed each step given in your tutorial. Thank you so much :)
