The PDF renders fine in all viewers I tried.
I normally use OfficeLibre to make PDF documents, Abiword might have some of the same features.
- To have the actual tutorial title (not the file name) show in a PDF viewer, in document properties add the title and optionally author, date, etc. I don't think Abiword does that on PDF export.
- In OfficeLibre, when you use proper heading styles in a document, H1, H2, etc., export as PDF it automatically create a headings bookmark index for navigation. Abiword doesn't do that either.
- If you're planning a screen only PDF image resolution is not an issue other than PDF file size. If it's primarily for print prepare 300 PPI images. One caveat, if you're primarily designing for screen but images are somewhat crucial (in case someone wants a printed version) 150 -200 PPI should work.
- A note on screenshots, use them for visualization not the only way of relaying information like setting. In other words, for accessibility have all screenshot settings duplicated in text.
If you have OfficeLibre I'd give it a go, the PDF export is very good.
I look forward to your finished tutorial!
Thanks.
I use Puppy Linux (Lighhouse64) and although I've got an Libre Office SFS somewhere, I personally prefer to keep my document apps lightweight, as I don't use them too often. Abiword is just right for my needs.
I've tried viewing my PDF on multiple PDF viewers and they all work fine except Evince. It's still good enough though, I think.
