I was asked in a PM how exactly I did the effect in my "Limitless" image. So I thought I'd try my hand at a tutorial to explain it. Let me know if I need to clarify anything.

If you're interested in the original work and how to create more accurate perspective the original piece can be found here.

Thank you Sasquatch. I love to do tutorials. I always learn from them.

It was an interesting experience. I like that it forced me to really focus on what I was trying to do rather than simply messing about to see what happened. I'll probably do more tutorials in the future just so I can have an excuse to refine my techniques. Of course, that requires having an idea worthy of a tutorial. This one barely qualified since it's not much more than a minor alteration of ofnuts' own tutorial on how to make 3D text with his scripts. The only real difference is in adding a bit of perspective and coloring it with a gradient.

Thank you so much Sasquatch.
Great outcome Wallace - your default choice of color seems to work on all your work.

My pleasure, RJKD. Hope it helps.

Wallace, I'm curious how you managed that slight arc to your fade. That's a very nice touch. And did you use the lightsaber script on the face? Yours has a more subdued glow, which I like. I also like that you carried on the theme of my original piece. Although that is certainly not mandatory for the tutorial.

I used the Dodge & Burn Tool :burn once the text was complete.
To help and mimic a slight arc.
Burning a bit in the center and a little Dodge on the outer most part.
Ofunts' Neon Path python plug-in was used,
to give me the kind glow I wanted.

Those are very nice images, Wallace. Love the choice of color also. I need to get it in gear and do this tutorial!

And apparently I need to step up my game to keep up with Wallace. :)

Nice! I was just experimenting with arcing some text. Went a different route instead.

Here's my latest. It's a fairly simple piece. I was mainly experimenting with the guide path function of the intermediate-paths script.

Me too. And this is one of my favorites. I'm a perspective junkie.

I went back and added a bit of radial blur to my last piece.
