This tutorial has been a long time coming. I hope it's been worth the wait. The goal is to produce lightning that outlines shapes or follows paths. Like in this picture;

Or to produce a GIF like this;

The technique is identical. And both the PNG and the GIF require multiple layers to produce. So really the only difference is the animation.

The ZIP contains the PDF tutorial as well as two GIFs showing a slight variation in the technique. I'm not sure I could replicate the information as a post here since it would take several posts to do it.

Thanks. And especially thanks for all the guidance in turning this tutorial into something that almost looks professional.

An excellent tutorial Sasquatch :clap , thanks

My first attempt was a disaster, this attempt though better is a way off from where I want to be, will keep trying though, varying the parameters and see where it takes me

Was the disaster due to some confusion with the tutorial? I know I went through some oopses with my first couple tries. There are a lot of variables to play with. I'm glad you got it worked out. That square looks sparky.

No, errors were all of my own making, :oops: :hehe

I sympathize. There's so much wiggle room with this technique it's easy to wiggle a bit too far. If you find something that could be simplified or clarified, let me know. I can always update the tutorial if a variation works better.

I've developed a technique for doing this without the path. It can still be done with the path. But doing without can be a useful option at times. I also have some other updates to make to the tutorial to simplify it and highlight some additional information. I hope to have time to get it done this weekend.
