Well its been a bit of a marathon but here is tutorial 5 (the last!) - this time in 2 parts it covers using the filter against spiral and radial gradients, like these images -

ZIP files below for the tutorial and also some wooden patterns used in them.

As always detailed step by step instructions and hopefully no errors.

If you find errors or have problems let me know. :)

Oh and just a reminder - try keeping the bump maps from chisel and carve and then try applying them in overlay mode; accentuates and changes the effect.

Thank you so much, OMG, for all your time and efforts for this tutorial. I feel like I have learned a lot. I will need to play with this filter more!

Pat - thank you very much, I appreciate your kind words. Actually I learned a lot too just writing the tuts and experimenting on the way through ... never stop learning or I might make a monkey of myself :hehe ...

Taking the tut on radial gradients one step further - used my own recommendations at end of tut to try out patterned paths and some GMIC influences. Amazing what a simple radial shape gradient can become in GIMP -

Pat - yes those path things again.

More examples of further exploration of paths over gradients, using shaped angular mode thisn time, and then applying similar techniques as per tut ... seems I am still learning, but am also amazed at what Chisel or Carve can deliver so quickly :)

Gradients Browns and Golden...

I wasn't sure which tut to place this in so I chose this one. I tried to use different filters and things I have learned this year. This has a lot of Chisel Carve, glass, rays, use of gradients and wood. Also some BRL to get glass to shine.
