I haven done a tutorial in quite some time, but I think this one might be fun!
EDIT: I replaced the first picture as I had to fix the font spacing. (See image at bottom of page)Attachment:

1) Create a new image 1000x250
2) Fill image with "Pink Marble" background. (or any you choose)
3) Right click on "Background" layer in Layer list and select "Add Alpha Channel"
4) Create a text layer using font of your choice. (I used Puppylike 184px)
5) Right click on "Text" layer in Layer list and select "Alpha to Selection"
6) Layer>Crop to selection
7) Select>None
8) Using the "Align" tool, click on the text. (there should now be four white dots around text layer)
9) Click on Vertical Center and Horizontal Center in tool palette.
10) Right click on "Text" layer in Layer list and select "Layer to Image Size"
11) Right click on "Text" layer in Layer list and select "Alpha to Selection"
12) Turn off visibility of text layer and click on background layer.
13) Edit>Cut
14) Select>None
15) Filter>Alpha to Logo>3D Bevel
16) Set 3D to 20 and click on "Ok"
17) You should now have a new image with the your 3D block and your text cut out of it.
Note: Spacing may need to be adjusted in Step 4 if cuts overlap.18) Right click on "Background Copy) layer in Layer list and select "Alpha to Selection"
19) Select>To Path
20) Select>None
21) Set foreground color to white (code "FFFFFF")
22) Create new transparent layer above "Background Copy" named "Cut Edges"
23) Edit>Stroke Path using Solid color and line width of 2
24) Set layer opacity to 50%.
25) Image>Canvas Size Width=1250, Height=500 and click "Center" and "Resize" (added 250 to each original dimension)
26) Right click on background layer and select "Layer to Image Size"
27) Filters>Light and Shadow>Drop Shadow Use default values except turning off "Allow Resizing"
28) Create new transparent layer below Shadow layer, named "Slab"
29) Fill "Slab" layer with same background image used on the cutout slab.
30) Filter>Alpha to Logo>3D Bevel
31) Set 3D to 20 and click on "Ok"
32) Move "Slab Copy" layer to second from bottom (just above "Slab" layer.
33) You should now have a new image with the your 3D block and your 3D Slab.
34) Turn on visibility of all layers except the original text layer
35) Right click on "Slab Copy" layer in Layer list and select "Alpha to Selection"
36) Select>To Path
37) Select>None
38) Set foreground color to white (code "FFFFFF")
39) Create new transparent layer above "Slab Copy" named "Cut Slab Edges"
40) Edit>Stroke Path using Solid color and line width of 2
41) Set layer opacity to 50%.
42) Image>Canvas Size Width=1400, Height=800 and click "Center" and "Resize"
43) Right click on "Slab" layer in Layer list and select "Layer to Image Size"
44) Filters>Light and Shadow>Drop Shadow Use default values except turning off "Allow Resizing"
45) Create new transparent layer below new Shadow layer, named "Wall"
46) Fill "Wall" layer with wall color of choice. (I used "00C6F8")
47) Create new transparent layer below "Wall" layer, named "Bump"
48) Fill Bump layer with "3D Green" Pattern.
49) Select "Wall" layer.
50) Filters>Map>Bumpmap Using default settings except setting Depth to 1.
51) Select "Background" and use lasso tool to select the cut out text area of slab (accuracy isn't too important)
52) Select>Invert.
53) Adjust the levels to make Text Cut Slab sides a little darker (to taste)
54) Select>None
52) Repeat step 53 on "Slab" layer using the same adjustments.
