Looks like you dropped a frame or two. I dropped a frame on my last one and had to reduce it down to 35 layers.
Thats probably about as 'forgiving' as this process is.
I remembered a lot of GIF optimization involves deleting layers.
It's pretty hard to put a layer back after accidentally deleting it.
GIFs get a pretty bad rap on the net these days but it's not exactly easy to make an MP4
or a WEBM video clip loop outside of whatever player a user is viewing it on.
A script to automate the 'triple nested animation' could possibly just process one phase and apply
drop shadow and the 36 replacement layers in the correct series.
Rotations and backgrounds could be done manually and then the script could be run on the next phase.
Maybe one day.......
