Someone asked in a graphics group I belong to about adding text to something like a book to make it look like its the original title. I fiddled with it and this is what happened. I wouldn't know if this has been done somewhere before but I've never seen it. I used an Italic font so it looks a bit slanted in any case.
Image
1. open image on transparent background.

2. choose text and font
Image
3. So add font the way you want it and then choose perspective tool :perspect .
Image
4. Line up the straight lines with the edges of the book so that they are equally
margined on all sides Image
and then click transform. This looks a little slanted but I was using an italic font

I've found that you get better results by first changing the text to path, then transforming the path with the perspective tool, and then changing path to selection and filling the selection.

hmmm, and maybe you can make it a gold texture and make it look embossed!

For that you could try using the path you made earlier. Stroke it with yellow, or a paintbrush and using a gold gradient. And then use bevel and emboss from the layer effects script. :)

I combined this perspective tut with Jolie's inner shadow tut and came up with this. Posted here on Jolie's thread.

Nice tutorial, akky, thank you for posting it. :bigthup

Just FYI, we have a group of tool icons in the smilies box to the left of the text entry box that come in handy for explaining how to do things.

Not everyone is aware that they are available.

I put the Perspective Tool icon :perspect in your tutorial.

Here is my attempt. i changed the color of the book. My letters went blurry/fuzzy on me after I used the perspective tool. I am not sure if it was my font I used, the gold blend color, or maybe both?? LOL

I never could find the text to path, so I just used selection.

Ok, that was hard and I'm still not happy with the way the lettering looks. I was in the zone though and for that, thank you!
