Not quite the same as this tut (but does use the Mathmap Distort>Sphere preset too). first, you need a square and seamless texture. Used one that posted at my Deviant (SSP; lol) for this tut.

ref: http://lylejk.deviantart.com/gallery/?o ... 8#/d2szz4j

First fill a large and square texture (add alpha transparency; you'll see why later) with your fill and then run Mathmap>map>Droste preset as shown:

Then run Whirl and Pinch filter as shown:

Now run the Mathmap>Distort>Sphere as shown (move slider for background transparancy. If you don't, your blackground will be black and you might want to use another background):

Now I just flattened (my background color is black) so it is what it is. :)

Years and years of near mindless play Mahvin; got to pick up something sometimes. lol

The Poincaré binge reminded my of this trick and I've referenced fake Poincaré more then enough times that a tut was in order. I might have posted it before, but I did a search and didn't find it. :)

looking over this thread I realize i don't have this mathmap plugin.

I did a bit of searching and found three files which I "think" I am supposed to install:

chpp_0.3.6-1_i386.deb
mathmap_1.3.5-1_i386.deb
mathmap_20090822-1_i386.deb

is that correct? before I blow something up, I just want to make sure........ :tyspin

I think i may have learned how to make quick eggs lol. :)
Using map object to sphere, and then Lyles settings with Droste gave some pretty cool results with this image.

Excellent Cecilia; Mathmap is not used that often (by me), but it does have some unique capabilities that's for sure.

Don't think I will be eating any grey color hour glass shaped eggs any time soon Rod (lol) but that is pretty cool. :)

Rod if you enable supersampling in mathmap ,and you use Map/sphere or Distort/sphere or Animation /animated Sphere with the number of frames set to 1 (all give quite different but quite good results ) instead then map to object you may get a higher quality, map object tend to...overstress the pixels.

MM supersampling if enabled help a lot

Only problem as default is disabled

I knew I posted a tut before; just not here. Slightly different (this one's better with the whirl/pinch settings), but I did list all the tools specifically. Click link below if you like. :)

I believe you can the image itself by right-click properties on the image, but the direct link to my tut itself works PC (at least for me; maybe I'm not understanding what you want to do). :)
