I'm looking for a sketched glass tutorial, i had one from gimptalk buts it's down at the moment
i did one a while ago but forgot some of the steps (getting old i guess)
it involved a quick sketch script and kward1979uk glass script
thanks
Andy

Here is GnuTux's Glass Effect Text Script

Here's a small example of using the script.

Also, here's kward's glass script. I can't find it in GIMP. It's supposed to be in <Image>/Filters/Kward1979uk/glass... but it doesn't show up and I expect because it's for gimp 2.4. I refreshed the scripts, and then closed and opened GIMP and it isn't there.

and kward's Sketch script, unfortunately it doesn't run in gimp2.6. Perhaps one of our script writers can update it.

A script writer probably needs to do an overhaul on both of them.

Whenever you want a tutorial off of GimpTalk and it's down, you just need the direct link to the tutorial (obviously you can't search it on GimpTalk if it's down, but...) most times tutorials will show on the search pages. If you get a search page that has no cache options, just type (only tested this on Google, btw)

"cache:" in front of the URL (minus the quotes).

Example: cache:http://theurltothetute.com/

What does this mean or have to do with my comment?

Rephrasing my original question, as it may appear aggressive: Does Rod have the entire cache of GimpTalk or something? I was just giving a self-help tip to people who find GimpTalk down and still want to view the tutorial.

Kward's Script-fu works for me O; going to post it here just in case somehow I got a different version (updated for 2.6). :)

Your script is different than mine, Lyle. I am testing the difference between the two.

Lyle, the script you submitted is the reworked original. Thanks for posting it.

Forgot to include Kward's Sketch Script-fu too. What you need to do is delete the base layer and then apply the mask before running Kward's Glass Script-fu. Do this as a top layer to another base glass layer for better effect. :)

Don't thank me; not sure if it was RobA or Kward himself that fixed these Script-fus at GIMPTalk, but since they are down and I'm too lazy to use the wayback machine (or google cache for that matter), the answer is still in the air, but I'm just a poser/user (but don't call me a looser; lol) and not a programmer. lol

:)

Another one I missed, very nice Lyle, I would like to see that one done with a very light Aqua BG. Thank you for the updated script. :paint

I seem to have missed a few of these myself.
Thanks Lyle.

@ Mahvin and @ Willy (if you still read this forum).
I used to have all the GimpTalk tutorials on my machine, but that machine is now non existent as well as everything on it. lol
