Vids are fine but I find that it takes a lot of time pausing, writing, pausing writing, this way, it can be printed and followed easier, for me anyway, I was too lazy to do the scrn shots but the video will help for that.

There is a lot about this particular tutorial in Draconian's introduction thread here.

my random-ellipses script could be a good way to generate random drops.

Gave your plug-in a try, ofnuts. I generated random ellipses, used the color picker to get rid of the gray bg using color to alpha, then did alpha to selection on the white ellipses, made a new layer and filled it with white so they were solid. Deleted the blurred ellipses layer.

Then made white text go to with them and did the tutorial. The random ellipses work great for this. I think I could have made them just a bit larger. I was afraid of having them too large so erred the other way.

I'm so lazy that I've (since I found out about it a few years ago) used the FX Foundry's Liquid-Water Script-fu for quite a long time. Never tried to figure out how they do it (because I'm lazy; lol). :)

I tried my hand at making blood. First I made the text and splats in white, then did alpha to selection and made red ones on a new layer. Used the white one to do the Channel, then turned off the white layer and used the red for the rest of the steps.

I used white in color to alpha to make the blood just a bit translucent. If you look closely, you can kind of see the edges of the checks showing through. It was Colonel Mustard in the Parlor with the Candlestick.
