Thank you molly - I must have made a mistake along the way because my text color didn't come out as Drac's - so I played around with the background to sort of make it complement.

I really enjoyed this tutorial! I thought I would post my results in case anyone was interested.

The second image is the first one I tried, and I found that setting the layer mode to Grain Extract for the layer with the highlights and shadows added a slight patina effect to the text, which I thought was pretty cool.
