There are lots of ways to create textures but this one is a little different. What I did was create a "base" texture and then applied different filters and layers to get quite a lot of cool looking background textures. In the attached tutorial, just one Base texture is used to create the background for the image below starting with a simple "clouds" layer. I thought I might share the technique.

Very nice Drac, why don't you add it to the Text tutorials?

Thanks Molly. I'm not sure what you mean, I thought it was in text tutorials

I didn't know how to post all the text with all the screen shots like the one Rod did recently about the pencil tone thingy. Perhaps you could enlighten me how to get that done. It would be easier for people to see instead of having to download the zip. Some folks haven't upgraded to 7-zip yet.

Big fan of Neoplasticism Drac. Someone at the G'MIC's Flickr forum wanted to re-create this result and I shared with them some of my insite on the subject. Been on a water and glass binge of late so not in the mood to create these, but maybe later, I might strut some concoctions at you and all. :)

Now I gotta go dig out my dictionary and look up all these big words you're throwing around. LOL!

Yeah I started fooling around with the glass ball thing and stumbled onto something on the internet that started me thinking. I ended up spending the day experimenting and making textures and had to go back later and finish the glass ball. Now I'm into all kinds of weirdness making new textures. Here's one I did this morning after making a cube brush. I opened a grunge texture as another layer and set the mode to difference. This is turning out to be a lot of fun!
