I was not sure if post this in the art, in the resources or in the Tutorial board
it is about one trick i love to make complex patterns , patterns with more depth and intricacy then usual
But let see the magic i used Gmic (my "pattern" filters Seamless Decò and Symmetry master) to create a few pattern
Then i check the pattern for (too) large area of solid color, selected (using select by color), feathered and softened the selection and cleared

now the trick is simple just load the 2 patterns together in gimp, and then Lasyer/new from visible

hide the new layer swap the other layers ...here i also added a drop shadow to the upper layer

now you may see that are still white area...that means that we may add another pattern in the bg
BUT here i used "normal" 2D pattern , if you try with something more 3d as example patterns as

then the results may even more impressive

each pattern may be modified by a different animated filter, i don't post the results here because too big file size but well i suggest to try...
