Thought I would do a quicky tut for those who want to give it a try. Motivation from this guys stuff.

First, you start out with the circle ring (on black background so you can see the ring):

Then you run Droste; it's, unfortunately, an eyeball affair, but look at the settings that I've chosen to get an ideal of the paramters that you can/should tweak:

Done (colored it dark red since I wanted to keep it on transparent background):

Thanks for the feedback Rod. I actually linked the Doyle search. The guy I should have linked is below.

What if you add a circle shape to the center?
Would that fill in with the Droste effect or no?

It would take an exercise in alignment which I'm not sure would be that easy. Could also try to dup, then scale down the layer and try to fit the angle and such, but that still would be a heck of a lot of work for a lazy filter guy like me Rod. lol

:)

edit:

not as hard as I though. Reduce the layer size by 50% and center, then do it again (or use the original reduced to 25% which I actually did) and so forth. Then erase around the outer parts. I didn't do this cleanly, but it's a proof of concept Rod so it's doable. :)

Hello Lyle, can we use Droste filter with something other than circle? for example triangle, hexagon, etc? Thanx

my first attempt. I don't have a clue how to do the settings or what they mean so I just copied your settings Lyle. I will play around some more to see what I can do on my own.
Nice plug-in. I always liked Math Map.

Looks cool Molly. The more you play, the more you will understand how the sliders work and what they influence. :)

These are some great works! I especially like the colorful one (heresatry.jpg)!

Sorry that I missed your question here hanciong. Anyway closed curve such as square, circle, and triangle are fair game. Odd sides gives you some cool options too if you play with Periodicy. :)

Aside from Erisian's brushes, this is the first time I've seen what can be done with Mathmap. That I'm aware of anyway. Heresatry looks like so many M&Ms. The possibilities with different shapes definitely looks interesting.
