Border Average and Gimp Palettes
I got the idea for this brief tutorial from a thread about Using Border Average For Text.

1. Open any image in Gimp.
2. If the image border area has limited color, make a selection of the area with the most color concentration before you run Border Average.
3. Go to the Image window menu + Info, select Border Average.
4. Adjust the Border Size: Thickness (in pixels).
5. Adjust the Number of Colors: Bucket Size (see Gimp help), OK.
6. Your foreground color will now be the Border Average result.
7. Select the foreground color, in the Color Selection dialog take note of the HTML notation.
8. Go to the Color Scheme Designer web site. The new version of Color Scheme Designer does not export Gimp palettes.
   
   
   
9. At the bottom of the browser window, select RGB.
10. In the pop-up window, insert the HTML notation from step 6, OK.
    
    
    
11. At the top of the browser window, compare the Color Models, mono, complement, triad, tetrad, analogic or accented analogic.
12. At the top right side of the browser window, select Export, GPL (Gimp palette). This will open up a new browser window with palette code related to the selected Color Model.
13. Copy and paste this code into a text editor, save the file with a .gpl file extension.
14. The format of the Color Scheme Designer generated palette code must be in the following order.
    
    • GIMP Palette
    • Name: (pick a name)
    • Columns: 4
    • #
    • Color codes list…
    • #
    
    
    
15. Copy your new .gpl file to your personal Gimp palette folder.
16. Refresh the Gimp palettes menu and your good to go!

I just added another tip in the tutorial (#14) regarding the proper format when loading palettes from other sources into Gimp. It's in the graphic text box.
'Do not forget to add a hash (#) at the end of the color list. This prevents an initial loading error and ensures an accurate color count' (in the Gimp palette list).

If you skip the last hash the palette code will still work but Gimp will pop-up an error message, add a duplicate of the last color in the list, which makes the palettes colors count in Gimp +1.

the link is broken (for all kinds of export)

go to http://paletton.com
after you have the right palette..
click Color Table
(in top right) click as GPL
and follow again the tut
