i've been asked many times to teach friends and foes to make celtic knotwork, though i'm very far from an expert myself, but i'm a bit lazy and don't want to go through the same steps over and over, so my plan has been to write down a sort of simple knotwork school. after seeing some really good tutorials on celtic knotwork in gimp, i thought maybe i should write my knotwork school for gimp users first and use any interested gc members as test dummies for it - if it works i will then adapt it to paper-and-pen knotwork making and share it with the people who requested lessons. here's a first attempt at a celtic knotwork tutorial, it contains the instructions for making these two knots and the simple 3d effect i gave them:

the attached pdf is the whole two-part tutorial.

Thought I'd have a go at your tutorial but have come unstuck at one of the points, when I add the new anchors in step 5 and delete the old ones this ends up happening.

Not overly an issue as I could create the two seperately first and then merge just curious as to why, just to add I did create the one path flipped it and then merged but I am now having trouble with the insections, it just doesn't seem to want an anchor with more than 1 direction.
