We are about to create this simple but nice text effect
1.First we need to create a brush as shown below.
Create a new 60x5 px image with transparency.
Choose the Ellipse select tool and make a selection that fits the canvas.
Stroke the selection with Gradient tool: choose bilinear in tools options, change
Foreground/Background colors - fffff (white) for FG, 152d4c (navy blue) for BG,
stroke horizontally from the center of the image to its side
Select All in Select menu (Ctrl-A) and Copy the selection in Edit menu (Ctrl-C)
Your brush is now ready and copied to the clipboard and appears
in the top left corner of the brushes panel.
2. Create text image.
Create a new 1600 x 350 px image with transparency.
Create text layer above the Background layer.
For best results use bold fonts with more or less rounded corners.
I used Trash Toys font at 200 px font size. Type your text and align it horizontally
and vertically, or just move it pressing and holding the Alt key (Opt key for Mac users)
Leave the default (black) color for now.
Right click on text layer in the layers panel and click on Alpha to Selection
in drop down menu. In Select menu convert the selection To Path.
Now deselect all (Select>None). Right click on text layer again and select
Layer to Image Size.
3. Stroke the path with newly created brush from the clipboard.
Select created brush in the top left corner of the brush panel,
change the Spacing to ~ 40 px and Size to ~ 50px.
[Note: if you're using larger font size you might need to increase the brush size]
Duplicate
Dynamics off brush dynamics and set Size and Angle to Random.
In the paths panel, right click on the path and choose Stroke path.
Check
Stroke with a paint tool and
Emulate brush dynamics and hit Stroke.
4. Last step.
Fill the Background layer with color.
Ideally the color of the Background layer should match the color of the text.
I chose black color for both, but you can go with any colors you want, just make sure
it makes a good contrast with the colors of your brush (white and navy blue in this case)
You can also make a brush of different colors or use color gradients.
If you want more dense brushstroke you can decrease the brush spacing.
.
Thanks for reading/watching!Create your own shapes with path tool. Here's the brushstroke up close.
Have fun.
Edit: for extremely busy or extremely lazy people (like myself) there is a script, written by Graechan The Wizard
that will produce this effects (and much more) in a nick of time. Download it
