i just stumble on a cool gimp tutorial
well i am not entusiast of the example used by the tut author
but the tut is well done and the effect interesting

I've been a member over at RetouchPRO since 2005. Good group of folk (and some are nuts like me; lol). I almost exclussively play at the art forum. I do a mixture of stuff at DPR's Retouch forum, but, at RetouchPRO, it's all about art for me. Do 75% of my art exclussively in GIMP and 100% of all my edits (blending other program results and the like) I do use GIMP. I'm sort of known as the GIMP guy over there. lol

Hope to see some of your creations over there too PC.

edit: Forgot to add that it's sort of tradition to introduce yourself to the masses at the Salon (useful place for other miscellaneous things too).

@PC: Hahahaha...I thought you liked mazes? At least some of your pictures show a similar theme.

@Lyle: I signed up and tried to find the "Salon" on my own (PC's experience isn't an isolated case) and had to take a peek at the link you posted to discover the Salon was under Forums link. On the intro page they suggest to new members who haven't posted to head to the Salon (an ideal place for a link, don't ya think?) but left me scratching my head why they didn't put a link there. It's an obvious location to have one, IMHO. I didn't look to see if the groups were in alphabetical order or not, but Salon is toward the bottom, which, if you ask me, should be at the top (sticky, perhaps?).

In order for my own post here not to be a total blown out hijacking of the thread, my question is why do this call this technique "Manga"? It seems to be in a class all its own. I enjoyed the process in the Alice in Wonderland movie. Just never considered it "manga", which to me is more like Japanese cartoons.

Yeah; I'm so use to how the site works, that I completely forgot that. They pretty much divide the page into really 3 main parts. The competition section (hardly any participation here; lol), the forums (this is where I mainly hang out, paticularly the photo-art forum), and user galleries (never really even click here). There are a few other threads like archive and such, but I pretty much ignore these entirely. I guess, once they baptize folk, they will stay. lol
