OK 2-Ton; here's a near tut. To get it shiney eludes me right now (brain's still tired) but I believe it required additional combinations of anisotrophic smoothing and Irridescent filter again.

1. Run Logo>glossy with following settings:

2. Delete Drop Shadow and Grow me layers and duplicate the text layer (note that both text layers are still set to Screen).

3. Run G'MIC's Local Orientation with the following settings:

5. Flatten, and run Irridescent filter. Then run Gradient Map using Metallic Something gradient:

6. Run G'MIC's Tone Mapping preset with the following settings:

7. Now this result isn't quite the smoothed result that I achieved earlier, but those steps, I believe, involved going back and forth between G'MIC's anisotrophic smoothing and also running irridence filter again, but the flow eludes me right now since my brain's still tired due to lack of sleep; lolol

Text looks good, pity I cant get Iridescence to run NON-INTERACTIVE BUT I've never used a photoshop plugin in a script before but it runs in interactive mode

ok, just wondering what it said. When the letters run together, I sometimes use the kerning tool to space the letters more. Just a suggestion. Nice job though. :bigthup

Thanks for the tutorial, lylejk, I've been messing around with it for a couple of hours. It's great fun seeing what turns up.I didn't use the photoshop filter, since I started using Linux I've been a bit paranoid about installing any non linux stuff.
I ran the anisotropic filter once and change a few of it's setting, can't remember to what though, and pasted the original text layer, the one that's left just before flattening the image, onto the top of the finished text.

BTW, is the colour scheme that's on the buttons in your version of Gimp a download or one of your own design? It looks well cool.

Nice result all; like your's very much Caz. Very tired (going eat and sleep as the ol' story goes; lol), but want to say that I'm greatful for the words and just remember; there's always more then one way to skin a cat (and my apologies to my boy Socks (cat)). lol
