Didn't manage to get it exactly the same :( but maybe somebody can perfect it anyway:

1. Create new image
2. Create new text layer, set colours, layer to image size
3. Duplicate the text layer
4. Gaussian blur the duplicate
5. HSV noise on duplicate
6. Bump map the text layer, use duplicate layer as the map
7. Remove/hide bump map layer
8. Alpha to selection on text layer
9. Select > Distort, invert and cut, select none
10. Drop shadow

There are a couple other G'MIC things I think I did the first time I've missed out here but they aren't too important to the end result: dilate (fatter text), meancurvature flow (rounded corners).
Quite possible I unticked "Compensate for darkening" in the bump map options too. This seems to be close enough to the original but my head is cloudy from getting a cold so might have messed up a little :)

Very nice GarageCoder...Did you run all the scripts at default? I didn't know what to do there, especially in the bump map.

Ah I see you managed to move this molly thanks :D
Sorry about the strange layout of the tutorial, it's something to do with the way my brain works :goofy
The settings I used for each step are in the screenshots below, probably not the nicest way to do it but it was easy for me :)

I don't have the distort Script-fu (or can't find it anyway since it wasn't where I thought it should be). Link?

nice results, everyone :) ! molly: a nice way of making stuffed toys, i'll have to try that. esper: hairy rust :? ?

i tried this twice, first time i wrote "furry" but got a fluffy result instead. so i made it all over again and wrote "pink fluffy girl" - and this time i didn't get fluffy :gaah . had fun with this anyway and i think i'm finally learning to use the distort selection, i used to be very careful with that before because i found it so unpredictable.

Don't believe that is the same used here Odin. Anyway, I try using displacement map set to 2X2; think you will like the result. Not this one, I have to admit, I cheated. lolol

lylejk: i think it is the same one - that's what i've been using, at least, and it looks very much like the others did too. your result is really furry, almost suspiciously so in places. was that cheating or displacement mapping?

I guess I have mud in my eye AnMall and apologize Odin. I guess you then make the selection, run distortion, and remove the edges if I'm now seeing the light. :)

Very nice AnMal, how did you get the transparency around your text, that is cool.
Lyle, you are always pulling magic out of those pockets of yours. As far as fur goes, that is as nice as it gets. What part did you cheat on?
