Nice font Esper, I like it. Do you have a Tut from it? :jumpclap

the font is 'Syndrome BRK' at ~300px and no, there isnt a tutorial

i couldnt really write one because the purple text is a sideeffect of my experimentations with Erisian's innard technique
and the glowing highlights are a result of that texture

here is a screenshot of the bevel values

Nice work! I think it looks really slick and should be known as the Esper effect. :hehe

Well done, Esper. :bigthup

I find the overall aspect of your image very agreeable for the elegant colors and the effective embossing of the letters.

I added another screenshot on my blog, to show how one can improve the curve process

i think the "killer feature" of the effect is to make the highlight gloss up the edges
it should be a ring like shape with no fill - not too sharp and not too fuzzy

wallace: that looks just perfect! not very surprising that you'd try your hand at this one :).

i've been fighting to get rid of a tension headache (too much sunlight and not enough sunglasses) before it turned into a migraine, so i've only been on the computer for a short while today. i might try this tut now, though, it's high on my gimp to-do list.

@AnMal,

Yeah... had to give this one a go due to it's color. ;)

Wallace, perfect execution !!!
i guess it was easier for you because its in your trademark colour ;)

AnMal, your usual high quality
i feel its getting old, saying its amazing all the time....
but what can i do ?
it is !

seems you used the attached texture i provided for the Inner Glow ?
looks good !

did you use the same texture for the gold stroke ?
if so, im surprised how extremely well it works - just like its made for that job

@ AnMal... Nice J.O.B.!!! :bigthup

Glad you managed to crank this one out. Hope your felling better. ;)

@ Esper... Thanks Esper, I did have trouble with all the curve settings, but managed to pull it off nonetheless. :hehe

Well... Not knowing which layer to apply the curve to and what mode to use for the curves. The layers that I did apply the curves to, the mode was not able to be set, so that kind of through me off a bit.
In the tut, the curves mode in your images was set the 'Alpha', this mode could not be set for any of the layers in my 2.6 Gimp.

i see,
well my blogs works in a way, that i expect my readers to understand the basic tutorials i posted earlier

there is one about alpha curves - what they are and what you can do with them

you can find it here:
http://gimp-science-labs.blogspot.de/20 ... w-you.html

i posted a similar tutorial here on GC too

im not explaining that in every tutorial again - because that would take too much time

what i dont understand is, how have you been able to get the final result, if you couldnt apply any of the curves in alpha mode on your layers ?

Got a bit lost on some features as I had limited time, but hopefully I managed to recreate enough of the tutorial to make it work!
