You duplicate the layer and on one copy you do color to alpha with black, which leaves white, on the other you do color to alpha with white, which leaves black. You should then be left with a black shadows layer and a white highlights layer.

thanks for the tutorial EK !

i tried it and found it pretty complex.... or a lot of steps
then i got into exp mode and tried the same effect from another angle

i used a round brush, with random size dynamic
then layerfx bevel
duplicating the highlight and tightening one with an alpha curve to get a more focused light
and some more playing around with modes
its not perfect but an interesting result

esper: ooh, i love those bubble texts!!! they really look like bubble wrap - very inviting. :mrgreen: just make sure erisian and ek22 don't get all of them, i know that especially erisian is greedy about his bubble wrap...

My bubbles are small so I put small fish in it. Next time, bigger bubbles. Thank you for the excellent tutorial, ek22. Very nicely written and great results. :yes
