There are not many anime tutorial involving GimP, so I decide to make one. Yippie!(^_O)

GimP version used in this tutorial is 2.8.6 (^_^)
1. Let's begin with sketch. I do sketch manually on paper, so nothing special here.
2. Scan and adjust it using GimP. I edit some proportion, as in paper sketch I lack space.
[
Image ]
3. Then doing lineart , in GREYSCALE mode (not RGB), double the sketch size.
Here, my sketch is sized 7000 px, for lineart only, later for coloring I usually resize the image about 3700 - 4000 px.
4. Usually I drew hair on different layer than body.
[
Image ]
5. Then drew body and... the rest...
[

6. Note that I re-adjust the front and back girl proportion here. After finish, we came to coloring proccess. Save (or 'export'?) your image (PNG is better due transparency. In JPG you must do "Color to Alpha" before able to color.)
7. As said before, I resize finished lineart to 4000 px height large, and adjust lineart to make it darker.
8. Then on different layer is for base color fill...
[

9. This maybe take long, especially in hair selection. Good for train your patience... (^_^)
Free selection is the best. But in other case, fuzzy select work best-> 'Select'>'Grow' to make the selection more smooth.
10. I am not a fan of 'quick mask' or masking. For selection I prefer use 'select similiar color' tools on different layer, like this:
[
Image ]
The '1' layer is
[
Image ]
The '2' layer is
[
Image ]
11. So, for example I use 'select similiar color' tools on '2' layer and paint in 'rush#2' layer. I keep '2' layer LOCKED, same for '1' layer and 'g86la.png' layer (it's lineart layer as show in the picture, name is random, don't bother thinking about it.)
[
Image ]
12. And it's the brush setting I used... You can adjust it as your liking, of course.
[
Image ]
13. So it's finished... For character only. Of course it's finished if you don't intend to make background.(O_o)
[
Image ]
14. Then finally background... Yeah, I made a new image here.
15. Insert your finished image on step 13 (By simply paste or drag the image.)
16. Background is easy... I use Gimp 2.8 default 'vegetation' brush preset here.
[
Image ]
17. You can add more layer for something else as you like, freedom is freedom. For example you can use flower brush for some effect....
[
Image ]
18. Then we're done!

It took about 8 hour to made, and the longest is lineart, took about 3 hours. (Because technically I made 5 pictures all-in-one, so I think it's quite reasonable to take that long. And I'm barely just switch from GimPainter 2.6.7 to Gimp 2.8...)
P.S How's my explanation style? Is it good? Or it is kinda bossy?
Wow that is great drawing Zeo. thank you for sharing.
