This video will show you how I create spiro type line designs, similar to the image seen below.

Nice one Wallace :bigthup
I like the way you include the different scenarios.

Thanks Odin. :bigthup
I had issues with the brush size I was using when I first started using the stroke/fill visible paths script. I thought it would be a good idea to show what might happen if the selected brush was too large or left at default.

You get cleaner results by merging the visible paths and stroking the single resulting path in 'line" mode. Line mode gives cleaner results than stroking with a paintbrush which is all you can do in a script.

Thanks 2-ton. :hi5
I do all my videos by the seat of my pants or on the fly, so to speak. I'm not a pro at this, but I think I get my point across pretty well, most of the time anyway.

That's a good point Ofnuts. ;) I think I did show that, but I'm not sure.

Well, this is curious. One of the scripts is available in Gimp scripts and source forge but the other one is only available on source forge.

boo, I got both scripts in my python folder but I can't call it up. I don't have the "tool" option when I right click on the path. Darn OS X, always has to be difficult.

I have no idea why that is. That's a question for Ofnuts to explain.

Nice tutorial Wallace, I can see this being something I'll enjoy exploring.

I've had a quick play...

Image

Used this script Path Blend to generate a gradient between the original paths, its slow but very good.

OK Wallace, I have now viewed your excellent tutorial again to reinforce the fine points therein and completed my first serious attempt at replicating your spirals, deftly following your instructions. Then added some tweaks - artistic license!

Thanks again Wallace - love learning from you.

Wow that is a good one Wallace, I don't know how I missed this one. I think I should be able to do that rather than they other way you showed me. Thanks for sharing.

probably end up like a donut or something. I noticed you used the pencil for your stroke. instead of the brush.

Been playing some more, mainly using the lighting effects filter with bump maps and environment maps enabled as described in this tutorial "Environment Mapped Text Tutorial", I mapped an area the size of the largest square and then used the line design as a layer mask.

No... I used a 1x1 brush for the stroke not the pencil tool . In the video... I only clicked on the pencil tool to get out of the paths dialog, so I could start the second path.
