GIMP Version: 2.8.2
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 7 64-bit
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

Hi there,

I have GIMP Portable 2.8.2 on my machine.

I downloaded Help for GIMP 2.8.0, and GAP for GIMP 2.6 (as I believe these are the latest versions, and are compatible with 2.8.2).

Problem was that I had no success in installing these, in spite of my attempts. Is it possible to install these to GIMP Portable ?

Further, are these indeed the latest versions ?

thanks,
Andrew

The help from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win/files/ should work but you should enter in Gimp /edit preference and set in Help the option "web browser to use" web browser..because the default can't work since in the windows version there is no any gimp brower to use

And for gap Gap 2.6 it works, is quite old but still there are not new stable version but may be difficult find the download link, for the 32bit i was hosting GAP 2.6 on http:/photocomix_resources.deviantart.com/gallery

A more recent version 2.7 (not officially a stable version but seems working well , even if display a load of flashing black windows when loading is here ) at 32bit is http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-packagers/files/GAP-2.7-32bit-Win.7z/download

Last for 64bit you may found GAP.26 at http://samjcreations.blogspot.it/

instead the version of Gap that you may found at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win/files/ is from 2005 and can't work with modern gimp

lol, mathman has the same message on several forums, still don't know which version of windoze he is using. Just make sure that the path to the gimp file system is correct. The same applies to GAP. I lashed up a video last night with some pointers for anyone interested.

oh that is a document, i mean a very complete tutorial on GAP
Now i can't remember if was in html format or what, if there is a file with a html extension click on that and the page should open automatically in your browser

Ohh i almost forget do not separate that file from its related "image" folder or all illustrations will get lost

now i could not remember if was also a PDF version included i lost access to that account long ago but the manual is still valid
in case also the PDF should open automatically clicking on it

And in case are both are equivalent, the content is identical just chose what you find easier to open

When that happened to me. I deleted everything including that 00000001.xcf folder and started again and it was okay the second time around.

I tried to down load the gap2.7 zip files I had downloaded when 2.7 first appeared as I still use them in 2.8 without any problems but the Zip file was to big about 7mb
