Hi oldmangrumpy. You are spot-on with this IMHO.
5.15 - an intricate hybrid fractal with a nice structure and color that animates well.
7.20 - I call this 'the cone'. It's a mandelbulber 'primitive' that works because of it's size. First keyframe an animation, then use a spreadsheet to place the primitive x,y,z coordinates a few keyframes in front of the 'camera'. So if a primitive goes thru an opening the camera always follows. Then merge the spreadsheet coordinates back into the fractal and re-render. This technique had never been properly described and I discovered how to make saturn by putting 2 primitives on top of each other. The primitive interacts with the fractal. It's a virtual camera that is similar to a dashcam in some ways.
8.30 - I made this 2 days ago when I ran out of fracts to use. Somehow it has a Matryoshka doll effect that was unpredictable. Will investigate further.
Skinnyhouse. Thanks for the nice comment. I made the rotating runes from one of your many fonts. It doesn't say anything at all.
BTW you were one of the people who welcomed me the Gimp Chat many moons ago
