I was fooling around and ended up just doing a partial page turn using the Page Curl filter. I really wantd to create one of those animations I've seen on websites where you click on a catalog to turn the page and view the next, kinda like a transition in a slide show presentation. Oh, well. Maybe Cbarr will come up with another one of his fantastic tutorials or something.

ccbarr did put out a tutorial like that. I have done it twice and it is a very good one. It is a card that you can make the cover then do the page on the inside and it will flip back and forth.

Oh yeah, that's right, I remember that one. I have it saved and used it to make some Christmas cards. I think I posted a couple of them last year. This is different though and I'm really interested in the curled page turning all the way like I said above like looking at a catalog online.

Yeah, on International Artist web-site they have that pretty turn page effect to the current issue overview.
Looks pretty cool!

Oh man! That one's even better with the mouse-over action. I may have to get into the page source code and see if I can figure out how they did that. That's a cool site BTW. Thanks.

Used to be a subscriber to IA. Every issue is a gem, still keep them. A lot of beautiful and useful stuff for visual art lovers there.

If I'm understanding right you want an interactive catalong? If so you'd have to use Flash, Java, or Synfig for that as far as I know. I believe Gimp only saves .gifs and they are animated files that aren't interactive.

Could jQuery (Javascript) be used for such interactive animation?
Like this webpage CrossSlide effect here I particularly like.

MOKO - I haven't had a chance to look at the source code yet on the site Kite referred me to but yeah, I figured it was flash or java. I've made several presentations in PowerPoint, added the voice-overs and the art work (done in Gimp of course) then converted the whole thing to flash and uploaded it to the site.

I had an interest in creating an online catalog at one time for another client's website, but right now I just want to learn how to do it as a gif in Gimp.

2cents: an animated png would probably be nicer, no more colour banding and no more jaggies (alpha channel!), of course there's the extra weight, but if there's not zillion colours in your anim that could worth it.

Thanks he4rty.

Barbie - I don't know if I have enough knowledge to actually edit the code but it may hold some clues as to how it's done If I am able to decipher it.

draconian: it's a well made animation! but of course it would be much better if the page actually turned and not just curled - i've been looking for an animation like that for a long time, i took a look at that animated card long ago but it wasn't what i wanted. i'm looking forward to seeing more of your experiments with this!
